Image Resizer and Compressor

Type the file size you need and let the tool find the quality. The image never leaves your computer.

You can drop a file here. The image never leaves your computer; it is processed in your browser.

How it works

There is no closed formula between quality and file size: the same quality setting yields 80 KB on one photo and 400 KB on another. So when you pick a target, the tool does not guess once; it binary searches the quality over eight attempts and keeps the best result under your target. Nothing is uploaded: the file is opened, processed and downloaded inside your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a photo 20 KB?

Yes, enter 20 as the target. On a very high resolution photo 20 KB costs a lot of quality, so also set a max width and let the tool scale down before compressing.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser and the file is never sent anywhere. The tool keeps working even if your connection drops while the page is open.

Why does my PNG not shrink?

PNG is lossless and has no quality setting. To shrink a PNG noticeably you either reduce its dimensions or switch the output format to JPG or WebP.

What happens to transparency?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep them.
